TITLE IX

Title IX Discrimination

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any school or educational program receiving Federal financial assistance. Title IX requires Falcon Ridge Charter School not to discriminate on the basis of sex.

Falcon Ridge Charter School takes this responsibility seriously and explicitly prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, as defined in the Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, in the educational programs and activities which it operates.

Title IX discrimination/harassment may include the following:

Discrimination based on gender
Sexual harassment, which is defined as conduct on the basis of sex that satisfies one or more of the following:
An employee of the recipient conditioning the provision of an aid, benefit, or service of the recipient on an individual’s participation in unwelcome sexual conduct
Unwelcome conduct determined by a reasonable person to be so severe, pervasive and objectively offensive that it effectively denies a person equal access to the recipient’s education program or activity
Sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking as defined by applicable law
Pregnancy discrimination
Retaliation bullying/cyber-bullying when it involves sexual misconduct
Hazing when it involves sexual misconduct

Sex-based discrimination and harassment can be carried out by school employees, other students, and third parties.
